A tank cap is used to close off an unused fitting or seal an outlet after use. On an IBC tank, the part must match the existing connection system. The range includes solid caps, versions with a removable insert and camlock models.

S60x6, S100x8 or BSP thread: how do you choose?

Check the designation of the fitting to be closed. An S60x6 cap and a BSP threaded cap are not interchangeable, even if their dimensions appear similar. Compare the markings on the old part, the thread type and the dimensions specified on the product page. For a camlock cap, check the corresponding coupling system.

Solid cap or cap with removable insert

A solid cap is designed to close off the intended opening. A version with a removable insert has a different configuration, and its intended use should be checked for the selected product. Do not drill through a closure without considering its intended function and the required watertightness.

What is the difference between a cap and a tank lid?

A lid generally closes the large opening at the top of the tank. A cap is used for a fitting or a smaller opening. This category also includes lids, so identify the relevant location before selecting a part. The tank capacity alone is not enough to determine the correct closure.

Before fitting the cap

Clean the sealing surface, inspect the seal and engage the thread without forcing it. If the cap is difficult to screw on, this may indicate an incorrect thread pitch or a damaged part. Check the seal by filling the tank gradually. For food-grade applications or use with a specific liquid, ask for confirmation that the cap and seal are compatible.
