How do you compare second-hand drums?
Start by distinguishing between plastic drums and metal drums. The material must be suitable for the contents and the storage environment. Then check the exact capacity: this category may include drums of around 212, 213 or 220 litres, as well as other capacities depending on the model. Check the dimensions if your installation has a maximum height or diameter.
What do “sold as-is” and “reconditioned” mean?
These terms describe different levels of preparation. Check the product page for details of the stated operations carried out, the internal condition and any parts that may have been replaced. Some models are supplied with a new lid and locking ring. This information should not be assumed to apply to other models in the catalogue.
Can a second-hand drum be used for food products?
You must check whether the specific model is suitable for its new intended use, as well as its history and preparation. Previous use for food products alone is not sufficient to validate all future applications. Specify the intended product and its storage conditions before ordering.
Preparing for the arrival of the containers
Provide a clean area, a stable floor and suitable handling equipment. Upon delivery, compare the drums with the specifications ordered and check the closures. Then identify their new intended use to make batch tracking easier. When choosing between several models, compare the cost of the container with the preparation requirements, necessary accessories and the constraints of your operation.
