An IBC tank seal should be replaced according to its location: valve, cap, tap or fitting. The 1000-litre capacity alone is not enough to determine the correct seal. Its shape, dimensions and material must match the assembly.

How do you choose a replacement seal?

Check the fitting reference and measure the removed seal if it has retained its shape. Compare its diameter, width and thickness with the product specifications. A flattened or swollen seal may give misleading measurements. In this case, refer to the specifications of the part in which it is fitted.

This selection includes, in particular, seals designated as 2-inch, a 3-inch 100x8 seal and a 3/4-inch O-ring. Several cross-sections are available. Two seals from the same diameter range are therefore not necessarily suitable for the same housing.

Why does a fitting continue to leak?

The leak may be caused by a damaged seal, a dirty sealing surface, damaged threads or incorrect alignment. Clean the surfaces and check their condition before fitting the new part. Excessive tightening can deform the seal rather than improve the seal.

After reassembly, fill the tank gradually and check the fitting. For liquids other than collected water, have the compatibility of the seal material confirmed.
